One slot a week

Promote

There is exactly one thing for sale here: a clearly marked slot in the weekly email. This page is mostly about what that does not buy, because that list is the more important one.

What a sponsorship buys

One marked slot in one issue of the newsletter — roughly sixty words, your own copy, one link. It goes to everyone who subscribed, above the fold, labelled Sponsor in the same mono type as everything else on this site. That is the entire product.

What it does not buy

None of the following is available at any price, to anyone, including sponsors:

  • A listing in the catalogue. Submissions are reviewed on merit and nothing else.
  • A faster review. There is no queue to jump; sponsors wait like everyone else.
  • A position in search, a category, or any sort order.
  • A feature slot. Featured tools are chosen by whoever runs this and never sold.
  • Protection from being declined. A sponsor’s tool gets turned down on the same grounds as anyone else’s, and has been.
  • Removal or softening of anything written in a review.

Why the line sits there

A directory sells exactly one thing, and it is not traffic — it is the reader’s belief that the listings were chosen rather than bought. Sell placement once and every other listing on the site quietly becomes worthless, including the ones you did choose honestly. The revenue would not cover what it costs.

The newsletter is a different transaction. A sponsor is buying attention that subscribers have already agreed to give, in a slot everyone can see is paid for. Nobody has to trust anything for that to be fair.

Who reads it

Marketers, founders and operators who are actively looking for tools — the audience arrives by searching for something specific, which is why the list is small and the click-through is not. Current numbers are available on request rather than on this page, because a number on a marketing page ages badly and nobody believes it anyway.

If your tool is not listed yet

Start there instead, and it costs nothing. A listing is worth more than one email slot, it lasts, and it is the thing people actually search for.
